Position Overview:
We're looking for a Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern to join our team! In this role, you'll work alongside our underwriters to help review, quote, and process insurance policies for businesses. You'll get hands-on experience with day-to-day underwriting tasks like reviewing documents, preparing quotes, assisting with premium audits, and communicating with our partner agencies. It's a great opportunity for a recent grad who’s interested in learning how commercial insurance works—from evaluating risk to managing policies and building relationships with agencies. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Commercial Lines underwriting team in daily operations
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with assigned agencies through clear communication
- Prepare and deliver renewal and new business quotes in compliance with company underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
- Review and organize submission documents to assist underwriters in evaluating risk and pricing appropriately.
- Assist in tracking and following up on outstanding underwriting requirements and documentation.
- Help coordinate and support premium audit activities; act as a liaison between internal auditors and external agency contacts.
- Gain exposure to commercial lines products (e.g., General Liability, Property, Business Auto) and learn key underwriting principles.
Qualifications
- Able to commute to the office Monday - Friday
- Recent college graduate with a degree in Risk Management, Business or related field
- Strong interest in insurance and underwriting concepts
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze data and apply logical thinking to risk evaluation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
- Professional attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Prior internship or coursework in insurance is a plus (not required)
