Position Overview:
This internship is a great opportunity for upper-level students or recent graduates looking to explore a career in insurance. The Underwriting Intern will support our underwriting team by reviewing insurance applications, evaluating risks, and assisting with policy documentation for homeowners and dwelling fire products. With guidance from experienced underwriters, you'll gain hands-on experience in underwriting practices, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements—all while developing practical skills in a professional, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in reviewing and processing Homeowners and Dwelling Fire insurance applications
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate underwriting records in internal systems
  • Help analyze risks by reviewing inspection reports, credit scores, and property details
  • Communicate with agents and internal teams to obtain missing or additional information
  • Prepare underwriting documentation and support files for policy issuance
  • Conduct research on underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

  • Able to commute to the office located in Anaheim
  • Current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Risk Management, Business or a related field
  • Strong interest in insurance and underwriting concepts
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze data and apply logical thinking to risk evaluation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
  • Professional attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior internship or coursework in insurance is a plus (not required)
