Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Reinsurance Associate to support the US Strategy team. The Reinsurance Associate supports the design, negotiation, and execution of the company's reinsurance programs. This role collaborates closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, claims, brokers, and reinsurers to secure adequate and cost-effective reinsurance protection. This position focuses on analyzing exposure data, preparing market submissions, and assisting with the placement of treaty and facultative reinsurance across multiple lines of business.

Core Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and placement of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance programs.
- Analyze exposure data, loss history, and modeling outputs to support risk assessment and placement recommendations.
- Prepare comprehensive reinsurance submissions, including portfolio summaries, loss exhibits, and underwriting materials.
- Collaborate with brokers and reinsurers throughout the renewal cycle and support negotiation activities.
- Coordinate with internal teams to collect data and insights needed for program design.
- Review placement documentation—including quotes, binders, and contracts—to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain detailed records of negotiations, terms, capacity offerings, and reinsurer participation.
- Monitor market conditions, industry trends, and regulatory developments relevant to reinsurance purchasing.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 1–5 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance; exposure to ceded operations or reinsurance placement preferred.
- Understanding of basic reinsurance concepts (treaty vs. facultative, proportional vs. excess of loss).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess exposure data and loss trends.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and data management.
Preferred
- Experience working with reinsurance brokers or in a ceded re department.
- Familiarity with catastrophe modeling outputs or actuarial analyses.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines during renewal periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review contractual documentation.
