Position Overview

We are seeking a results-driven P&C Underwriting Manager to lead our Personal Home and Commercial Multi-Peril (CMP) underwriting operations at DB Insurance. In this key leadership role, you’ll manage risk evaluation, pricing, and approval for a wide range of residential risks—including HOAs, condominiums, and homeowners. Collaborating closely with brokers, agents, and internal teams, you’ll ensure profitable, competitive insurance solutions that align with company goals and regulatory standards. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining strong underwriting discipline while driving growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the underwriting team across both personal home and CMP lines, ensuring consistent application of underwriting standards and sound decision-making
  • Review, evaluate, and approve personal and commercial property accounts, including homeowners, property, liability, and business interruption coverage
  • Develop and maintain strong broker, agent, and client relationships to better understand their needs and deliver tailored insurance solutions
  • Negotiate policy terms, conditions, and pricing to balance market competitiveness with company profitability goals
  • Monitor portfolio performance, analyze loss trends, and implement strategies to improve risk selection and underwriting results
  • Ensure compliance with DB Insurance underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with claims, risk management, and actuarial teams to assess emerging risks and refine underwriting strategies
  • Lead initiatives to enhance underwriting guidelines, processes, and tools for improved efficiency and risk assessment
  • Represent DB Insurance in broker meetings, client presentations, and industry events to strengthen market presence
 

Qualifications

  • Underwriting experience in personal lines homeowners and/or commercial property, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
  • In-depth knowledge of personal and commercial property underwriting principles, including risk evaluation, pricing, and portfolio management
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing and developing underwriting teams
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments to achieve business objectives
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field; professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, AU) preferred
